We are sad to report that Govind Kant has died in Delhi. Govind was an MGSM Alumnus and an engineer by profession, working in solar energy industry.
He has become the second Australian to die from COVID-19 in India. The solar energy pioneer died on May 16th at a hospital in Delhi after contracting the virus at the end of April. Govind went to India when his mother died from the virus. Later, his father and other family passed away from the same virus.
Govind then also contracted the virus that took his life.
He did his MBA at MGSM (2001-2002) and worked almost 7 years at Trina Solar. Govind was promoted to Assistant Director in February 2021.
In a statement from his employer: "Our deepest condolences go to his wife, two daughters and other family members. This is a significant loss to Trina Solar and mere words cannot express the heartfelt sorrow we all feel upon Govind's passing. We will provide necessary assistance to his family in this mourn period and we pray his soul may rest in peace."
With those of us who studied with him, taught Govind during his time at MGSM or knew him personally, we take these few moments to reflect on his life.
